year end

Eight Days To Liftoff!

We’re officially 15!

It’s so exciting that I’ll be in Uganda EXACTLY on the anniversary of our first work there, January 15th. Wow, time flies!

So speaking of the upcoming trip… We leave on January 12th, arriving the night of the 13th. And that’s SO CLOSE!

We will have a team of four coming from the US, and will be joined by a Ugandan nurse, Harriet, who lives in the northeast Karamoja region. This is the first team I’ve taken to Uganda since October 2015, and we’ve got some great stuff planned: painting, drawing, clay and glass art, writing, hygiene workshops in the community, and more! I’ll be posting on Instagram, so make sure to follow us there. (Icon at the bottom!)

In other news…

We exceeded our year-end fundraising goal by 21%! I know times are tough and donations for all small nonprofits were down in 2023. So seriously, you all are THE BEST! You’re the fuel that makes everything we do in Uganda possible.

Some housekeeping…

If you donated via Donorbox or DonorSee, you always have access to your giving records and receipts via your account there. I have already sent year-end receipts to everyone who gives on Donorbox – check your spam folder or just download it again from the site if you didn’t receive it Tuesday.

If you gave via check, I will be sending you a receipt by email for 2023 before I leave on the 12th.

We really can’t express how much all your support and encouragement have meant to us, and how confident you make us feel going into this new year.

Mwebele nnyo!

THANK YOU FOR 2021!

THANKS TO YOU, WE GREW 70% IN 2021!

Let’s be honest, 2021 probably wasn’t anyone’s favorite year ever… but you stepped up for Ten Eighteen in a big way, and we can’t thank you enough!

Donations for 2021 were up a little over 70% from 2020 and that’s AMAZING.

We met not just our year-end giving goal, or our stretch year-end giving goal… you donated 20% more than even that!

We really can’t thank you enough!

2021 HIGHLITES!

What a difference a year makes!

When Ronald and I had our 2021 planning meeting at the end of 2020, we felt like we were really stretching on our 1-year goals for Touch the Slum, Skills for Life, and the very new Ross House programs.

And yet here we are, at the end of 2021, and we not only met all our goals for 2021, we met our goals through 2023!

Even with the (surprise) harsh total lockdown in June, we have gotten 40 girls through Skills for Life. We have not had a single drop-out!

  • The Ross and Suubi Houses are FULL — we have 6 teen moms in residence currently.
  • We will launch our fully funded (for a whole year, thanks to Expat Money) Basic Literacy Program on January 31, 2022 and we’ll take 60 girls through basic English reading, writing, and basic math.
  • We provided almost 94,000 meals in Namuwongo and Mbarara.
  • Nearly 40 projects have been funded since September on DonorSee.
  • The number of monthly donors more than doubled.
  • We have contracted for space that will more than double our capacity at the current Namuwongo compound. We hope to take full possession of this space by the first of January.
  • Over 1500 packages of sanitary pads have been given away to girls who can’t afford them.

…and much more!

Every single day, we touch the lives of teen girls in Uganda’s largest slum.
